It Is Best To Give And Receive!

Yes, it is better to give than to receive; but I have found volunteering gives you the best of both worlds.

When looking for work, volunteering works on multiple levels.

If you have been trying to get into an organization or industry without success, one way to get noticed is to volunteer your time.  Doing so puts you that much closer to the people who can get you hired. It is a great opportunity to practice networking, which goes back to the golden rule: “It’s not who you know, but who knows you.”

Volunteering looks good on a resume and also gives you the experience you may be lacking.

Many years ago when I was unemployed, volunteering in the community gave me the skills that eventually led me to find paid work training and counselling unemployed people.
