Feeling anxious or nervous about an upcoming job interview is perfectly normal. What’s most important to remember is that nervousness is a state of mind and you have the ability to change your mind.
If you can change your mind from a fearful state to a confident one, you can greatly reduce how nervous you feel about the job interview.
The best way to increase your confidence is with practice. Practice your job interview skills with a trusted friend or family member. Even when you are alone, visualize yourself looking and sounding calm and confident during the job interview.
I cover interview practicing tips in my earlier blog post, “Does Practice Really Make Perfect?”, where you’ll also find a link to a list of common interview questions and recommended ways to respond to them. The more you practice (in reality and in your imagination), the less nervous you will feel and the more confident you will be at your interview.
